UKRAINE:
A CULTURAL REVIVAL
A photography project exploring the importance of culture in a culturally oppressed nation

A collection of stories and photographs from a trip to war-torn Ukraine in autumn 2023,
produced in collaboration with the Ivan Honchar Museum of National Culture, Ukraine.
Devastating and moving, this project gives voice to people who have lived and fought during the invasion. Dressed in their traditional clothing, the Ukrainian people share their stories of the invasion, as well as their folk traditions, featuring many musicians, artists and tradespeople. As Vira, a seamstress from Irpin describes it:
“Our clothing represents our living Ukrainian soul: worn out by famine, wounded by war, but undefeatable.”

Ukraine: A Cultural Revival has exhibited all across Europe, with live Q&A events reaching thousands of people and raising thousands of pounds to aid with paramedic services on the front lines of Ukraine.
With the help of Kulturhus Helferei, Zurich, we contributed an ambulance to the war effort.
